IN TIMES OF TRIAL (2)

A young girl once found herself between the devil and the blue sea. She had a problem which tested her Catholic faith. After her Secondary education, securing an admission in a tertiary institution looked impossible. She wrote JAMB and failed severally. She was one of the brain box then in high school, she desired to study Medicine and Surgery but now her knowledge failed her. It looked like God have forgotten her. Despite all these challenges, this girl was very devoted to her catholic faith.
She attends the Holy Mass frequently and also books mass on several occasions. She is a Legionary, receives Holy Communion frequently, goes to confession when she errs, spends time at the Eucharistic Chapel of Adoration crying and pouring out her heart to the Lord. The more she strives to be devoted, the more her problem continued. It seemed God paid a deaf ear or probably was not interested in her case.

Now, her mother was introduced to a “Prayer house” where visions are seen. The mother went there with a particular intention on her first day and her request was granted (even though the prophet gave her enchanted salt to sprinkle round her house). Even, a prophecy was foretold that for her daughter to gain admission she must come for cleansing in the prayer house and again she will fall ill within 7 days if she fails to visit the prayer house.

Out of pity, this woman persuaded her daughter to join her in the prayer house so that her problem will be solved immediately. Despite the persuasion, she refused. She swore never to attend such place. 7 days later, she became ill. The sickness was so severe that her mother had to take her to the prayer house (since she was unconscious). The Prophet rubbed what he called “healing oil” on her and she became well instantly. When she woke up and learnt what happened, she became angry with her mum for doing such.

As usual, she asked God for forgiveness and also went for confession but then she started nurturing the thoughts of visiting the prayer house. Gradually, she started losing faith and was planning to attend the prayer house out of desperation. She met a priest who counseled her NOT to visit such place but to wait on God for He will surely answer her at the right time. She strongly doubts if she can continue waiting for God. She needs to be convinced deeply.

Now, if you were in this lady’s shoe, what will you do? Will you visit the prayer house or will you keep waiting on God? If she happens to be your sister or a close friend, what will you advise her to do?
