Hello friends, Happy Sunday and Happy New Month. That we are alive to see the last month of the year is enough reason to thank God.
Oh yes, today is Sunday and I believe many of us attend different churches. We wore one of our best outfit, we danced, sang and participated actively. I know most of you were busy “whatsapping”, "snapchatting" and “facebooking” while the sermon was going on. (Issoryt, God go understand shey?) No wahala. But wait a minute, why did you even go to Church today? Why didn’t you stay back at home, watch movies and enjoy your sleep? Did you just attend because of “going-sake” and probably to sample your new clothes?
For those of us that are Catholics, I wish you Happy Advent. Today is like a new year for us. In fact, today is our liturgical New Year, so Happy New year. Welcome to Liturgical year B. If you observed, the vestment have changed from green to purple, the gospel readings also changed. Advent is more like a season of preparation and anticipation of the Birth of the Baby Jesus, Emmanuel (God is with us).
Can you read the title of this essay again? What does it suggest to you? Oya, read and reflect on it again. “IN TIMES OF TRIALS”, what should I do? Have you been in a desperate situation when you lose faith in God, when you are tempted to seek solution elsewhere? You have prayed for a particular intention for long, attended Holy Mass, visited the Priest for counseling, visited the Chapel of Perpetual Adoration and yet nothing changed? In situations like this, what should we do? Should we continue hoping that one day God will answer us or should we try another method? Don’t just conclude by saying I will still wait for God until you find yourself in situations like this. Remember, talk is quite cheap o.
Let me hang it here and allow you to reflect more on the topic. We will continue tomorrow. Anticipate!
