A Sweet Western Odyssey (Day 1)

Life is filled with adventures, and there is time for everything under the sun.
This is our time to relax our brain after a marathon brain-stressing examination. This is a time for us to have an experience with the western culture.
It's our biennial picnic organized by the Nigerian Federation of Catholic Students (NFCS), FUTO Chapter. This time around, we will be touring round the western part of the country. This adventure will grant us the opportunity to visit the OAU Zoo, Erin Ijesha waterfalls, Ikogosi warmsprings and Idanre Hills — all located within three different western states in Nigeria.

At about 11:50am, we began our western odyssey in four different buses - two marcopolo and two coaster buses. Yours sincerely was privileged to be in the same bus with the Chaplain. And the journey began with our bus leading the way.

The curiosity on the faces of students was unexplainable. Everyone was excited on the soon-to-be western adventure.

Midway into the journey, our vehicle broke down. The vehicle developed a fault in the transmission system - the clutch pad was no longer effective. This means the vehicle can no longer move at a high speed since the transmission system was bad.
The clock was ticking. The road was lonely. The area was unfamiliar. Few meters away from the popular Benin by-pass. The ladies were frightened while the guys were courageous.
Was there any solution? Yes!
Thanks to the expertise of our driver. We drove the car down to our destination using the third transmission gear (gear 3). To turn the engine on, we had to push the vehicle before the transmission would engage. It was an adventure, but thank God we were not flagged down by security personnel. If not, the engine will stop abruptly and we will have to push the vehicle before the transmission would engage.

Fast forward. About 9:30pm, we finally arrived our long awaited destination. We were to lodge at Don Bosco Catholic Centre, Ore-Idowun, Ondo state. We checked in. Dinner was already waiting for us - a plate of Yam Porridge with goat meat. Palatable. Delicious. Appetizing.
As usual, I and Pascal Kelechi will take you through these four days of a western adventure with words. Stay connected on this space.
For now, let me go and sleep.
See you later.
