LIFE: A TWO-SIDED APPROACH

One of the most valuable gift from the creator of the universe to mankind is the gift of “Life”. Life is a free gift regardless of one’s social status, wealth, knowledge, experience, age because no amount of “wealth” can buy “life”. Life in itself is “UNFAIR” and it is also “TWO-SIDED”. Life presents us with “pains and joys”, “sadness and happiness”, “failures and success”, “bad and good”, “poverty and wealth”, “disappointments and blessings” “loss and gain” etc. We cannot fully understand the essence of life, the mystery of life and the right attitude to life since life is unpredictable. Life begins with conception and ends with death. God in his omnipotent way has so designed life in such a way that there is time for everything to take place in life. Life is two-sided in the sense that when Obi is happy with life, John is saddened with the circumstances life around him. With time, the reverse might be the case. Let’s look at some practical examples to show that life is two-sided.

- That moment your business, handwork, job is becoming successful, someone somewhere is experiencing failure and backwardness in his or her business.
- That moment you are graduating from the higher institution, someone else is praying to gain admission in the same higher institution.
- That moment you are in a happy mood, someone else is in a sad mood.
- That moment you are saying “I do … in sickness and in health” to your spouse in front of the altar of God, another couple somewhere is seeking for a divorce.
- That moment when a woman in a labour room hears the cry of a new born baby, someone somewhere is taking his/her last breath.
- That moment you are blessed with excess food, someone somewhere is asking for a daily bread.
- That moment you are in a crusade ground on a Friday night for an all-night vigil shouting, praying and singing on top of your voice, someone somewhere is in a night club enjoying some seductive dances, partying and clubbing.
- That moment when a young guy is doing all within his reach to impress a girl (probably his crush), another girl somewhere is praying that her “boyfriend”will not break her heart.
Finally, that moment you are “WINNING”, someone else is “LOSING. The examples are numerous.
In all these, what can we learn from LIFE? Are we to give up on LIFE? Are we to relax and follow LIFE the way it comes to us? Are we to show a lackadaisical attitude to LIFE? Are we to keep hoping that one day, we will experience the HAPPY, GOOD and SUCCESSFUL side of LIFE even when life is unfair to us? Or are we to keep STRIVING, keep following LIFE patiently with a determined mind? The answers to these questions depend on your personal conviction about LIFE.
The basic truth is, each of us at one point in time experiences the two-sides of life. Even the rich also cry! The poor cry and the poor smiles. There is always a time when life becomes good to us and there is always a time when life becomes bad to us.
Whatever side LIFE presents you, accept it with good fate for “No condition is permanent”.
LIFE IS TWO-SIDED!
