22 Ways to know that you were grew up in the 80's

Looking at the pictures below you can feel goose bumps all over your body comparing life THEN and NOW. This generation may not understand how much they miss: fun and peace of mind is not in DStv and Shoprite (that didn’t exist back then), but in the real JOY we felt in those epic times.

       1.   Basket Sandals.

  

This sandal was very common during the 80’s and most of us used to wear to secondary school.

       2.  Suwe or Hopscoth

It is a game based on the principle of not treading on lines. The diagram is drawn in sand, and a stone or a ball of crushed leaves is used as a marker. In suwe, if the player’s stone is tossed on a line, he/she is out of the game. At the end of the game, the players make drawings in each of the squares.

    3.   Old fashioned TV

Most families used this TV. It was a popular TV and for the they elites of then.

4. These plastic dolls

These dolls were mainly used by growing kids in the 80’s. They were taken as pets by the kids.

Lol! This was a famous biscuit then.

       5.   Cabin biscuits (similar to crackers)

Cabin Biscuit was a popular biscuit in the 80’s and even up to now.

Parents used it as a bribe (to stop kids from crying after being stung by an injection, for example).

    8.  Blue Band margarine that used to come in tin cans

This margarine was used to eat bread.

Women used it for platting their hair styles mostly shuku style.

This type of vehicle used to ply/shuttle between villages & towns, bringing farm products to the hinterland.

15. Okoto (combination of BIC pen cover and the the cap of Berec battery)

This was a popularly game played by kids. The game is played by spinning the okoto and it will be allowed to spin on the ground. This game was as popularly as the play station games (Ps2, Ps3) we have these days

Pacesetters books were popular in primary school. Most of the textbook used in primary school were published by them.
